ED CHAMBERLAIN EXTENDS AND JOINS LONDON ON LOAN

Ed Chamberlain has agreed a two-year contract extension with Salford Red Devils.

The Ireland international will join Betfred Championship side London Broncos on a season-long loan deal with immediate effect, in order to benefit from regular first team action.

The 24-year-old was ruled out of the entire 2019 campaign through injury and joined the Broncos on loan in March to assist with his return to match fitness. He then impressed on his return to Super League in October, with two tries in three appearances.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “We’ve been really impressed by Ed’s attitude, during a return to injury which was interrupted by the first lockdown.

“He showed great professionalism when called upon at the end of the season and proved what he can offer to the team.

“This opportunity with London is one we had setup to facilitate additional game time for Ed last season.

“Our recruitment to the squad means there is even more competition in the outside backs now, making this the best way to ensure he has the consistency required to return to his best, while remaining in a fulltime environment.

“I would like to thank London for working with us on a deal which will benefit all parties.”

2021 season tickets must be purchased this month to do so at the cheapest possible price. Season tickets can be purchased online 24/7, but callback requests must be sent before 5pm on December 30, to take advantage of the early bird offer. Further details can be found HERE.

Elijah Taylor Joins Red Devils

New Zealand international forward Elijah Taylor has joined Salford Red Devils.

The 30-year-old has made over 180 NRL appearances, most recently at Wests Tigers, where he had been co-captain.

Taylor said: “I’ve spoken to a few of the players who I know, and Salford sounds like a great club.”

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of playing at Salford, ripping into training and living over there.

“I’ve been following Salford over the last two years and have always wanted to play in the Super League at some stage. Speaking with Rich, I’m excited about playing for the Club.”

Taylor will reunite with his former NRL teammates Tui Lolohea, Sebastine Ikahihifo and Krisnan Inu, as part of the Red Devils squad for the 2021 campaign.

Salford Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall said: “Elijah has the quality to have a massive impact on this team with his actions on and off the field.

“He already has a good relationship with Tui from their time at West Tigers and I’m looking forward to seeing them play together in Salford shirts.

“I also think Elijah’s experience on the world stage will make him a great influence on the rest of our pack, and in particular our younger players.”

This signing of Taylor on a two-year contract, follows the Christmas Day announcement that Taylor’s fellow Kiwi Krisnan Inu will remain at the Club.

Supporters can see them both in action with a 2021 season ticket, but must purchase this month to do so at the cheapest possible price. Season tickets can be purchased online 24/7, but callback requests must be sent before 5pm on December 30, to take advantage of the early bird offer. Further details can be found HERE.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “The addition of a world class talent like Elijah will help elevate the squad as a whole.

“His presence makes our pack look even more imposing going into next season and beyond.

“This signing is a statement of our intent and I am sure will fill our supporters with excitement for his first match in Salford colours.”

MERRY KRISMAS – KRISNAN INU STAYS AT SALFORD

Salford Red Devils are pleased to give all supporters the perfect Christmas present, with confirmation that Krisnan Inu will remain at the Club.

After a season where he claimed a place in the Betfred Super League dream team and finished as both the Red Devils’ top points-scorer and try-scorer, supporters will be excited to see Inu back in action at the AJ Bell stadium during the 2021 campaign.

The New Zealand and Samoa international said: “I’m really pleased to have extended my stay at Salford.

“I love playing here and I think that helped me get back to my best last season.

“The boys are great to be around and it’s been two finals in two years for us since I arrived, so we all want to go that one step further now.

“Everyone is excited for our first proper home match since March and I’ve definitely missed that atmosphere.”

Inu has had a number of memorable moments during his time at the Club, which include kicking goals at Old Trafford and Wembley, as well as a crucial try in the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup Semi-Final.

Supporters can see more of him in action with a 2021 season ticket, but must purchase this month to do so at the cheapest possible price. Season tickets can be purchased online 24/7, but callback requests must be sent before 5pm on December 30, to take advantage of the early bird offer. Further details can be found HERE.

Salford Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall said: “Krisnan showed last season, just how competitive he still is at the elite level.

“His composure, power and unparalleled skillset make him a great part of the squad and speaking to the other players, they will be really pleased to have him onboard again.

“Alongside some recent additions, this makes our options in the outside backs very strong indeed. I look forward to seeing them competing in preseason.”

The extension of Inu’s contract for the 2021 season, follows the announcement of Greg Burke’s new deal and they will be joined by a number of new signings in 2021.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “We know this is the one everyone has been hoping for and are delighted to confirm Krisnan is back, as our Christmas present to the supporters.

“He was unbelievable on the field last season and off the pitch, he has one of those characters which lifts everyone.

“The backing of our supporters in such a tough year has been phenomenal and so it’s only right, he also helps us give that lift to each of them this Christmas.”

Salford Red Devils would like to thank Yates for his time at the Club.

DANNY ADDY SIGNS FOR SALFORD

Former Leigh Centurions captain Danny Addy has signed for Salford Red Devils.

Addy becomes the second Scotland international to be brought into Richard Marshall’s squad, ahead of the 2021 campaign.

The 29-year-old said: “I’m buzzing to be joining Salford and can’t wait to get started.

“It’s already a good squad and I want to add to it.

“Obviously I was captain at Leigh. I see myself as a leader, whether captain or not, so will look to show that here.”

Addy joins the Red Devils on three-year deal and has previously represented Hull KR & Bradford Bulls in Super League. The new arrival operates across the back-row, at hooker and in the halfbacks.

To join Addy and his new teammates at the cheapest possible price, supporters should purchase their season tickets now, with the early bird window closing this month. Further details can be found HERE.

Salford Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall said: “Danny is another player whose versatility presents us with a number of exciting options going into next season.

“In him, we’ve also added another leader to our group, which helps create the right environment for some of our younger recruits.”

The 2021 Red Devils squad will see Addy link up with his Scotland international teammate Sam Luckley, in addition to a number of other new signings.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “Bringing in Danny strengthens our squad in a number of areas.

“He’s another player with his eyes set on the World Cup next year, which will give him some additional motivation, so I think we can expect some committed performances in his first season with us.”

JACK WELLS JOINS HOMETOWN CLUB

Jack Wells has joined his hometown club Salford Red Devils, ahead of the 2021 season.

The 23-year-old back-rower joins Kallum Watkins, as the second former Salford Red Devils season ticket holder in the squad for the 2021 campaign.

Wells said: “When I watched Salford players walkout before a match as a young fan, I’d look at them and was in awe. The thought of doing that myself is surreal.

“I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in my career and to do that at my hometown club really means a lot.

“I was one of those kids, looking up to the players when I went to watch Salford with my brother and my dad.

“I was a season ticket holder for ten years and it was players like Andy Coley and Stuart Littler who inspired me to start my career, so hopefully I can be in the position that they were.”

Supporters can now purchase their season tickets ahead of the 2021 season, with adult prices reduced across all areas and under-11s available from just £5. Further details can be found HERE.

Wells made his Super League debut for Wigan Warriors at the age of 18, after representing Salford-based amateur club Folly Lane at junior level.

Salford Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall said: “Jack’s a player who is well suited to the modern game.

“The first time we met, he mentioned what it would mean to play for his hometown team.

“I hope he can inspire many future local players to represent our club and I’m sure that will give him a bit of extra motivation, as we go into preseason.”

The signing of Wells on a three-year contract follows last week’s announcements that Harvey Livett has joined ahead of next season and Danny Orr has been named the team’s new assistant coach.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “Having people like Jack in the squad, who have a deep personal connection with the Club, is a huge positive for us.

“He now joins Kallum Watkins, as another Salford season ticket holder in the side and I believe that can serve as a powerful inspiration to every young supporter in the crowd.

“He also offers a lot on the field and with the assistance of our medical team, I am excited to see what he can bring to our pack at peak condition.”

“A really special moment” Dan Sarginson

Dan Sarginson is looking forward to building on the past season with Salford Red Devils, following his contract extension.

The England international enjoyed a promising debut campaign at Salford and believes there is more to come from him and his teammates.

Sarginson said: “Obviously the position in the table didn’t represent our year, but I think the Challenge Cup Final and how we played in some of those games – I think we’re building something special.

“We’ve got some great players here if we can unlock their potential.”

The centre pointed out his golden point winner in the Coral Challenge Cup Quarter-Final as the highlight of his first season with the Red Devils.

“Scoring that try against Catalans in the last minute – Kevin (Brown) putting me in the corner. It wasn’t necessarily me scoring the try. It was just the whole process of making the Final.

“That was just a really special moment for me.”

The 27-year-old is hoping to continue to impress in 2021, with the international honours also on his mind.

“Obviously it’s the World Cup year and I just want to have a massive year and try and stay in that England squad,” Sarginson added.

“Alongside bettering my game again next year for Salford and continuing to improve.”

Sarginson was recognised by his teammates for his impressive performances in 2020, earning himself the Players’ Player Award.

“The Players’ Player Award I think is pretty special. I hold it in quite high regard.

“I’ve never actually won that award at any other club and it’s always been the one I’ve wanted to get,” he said.

New signing Joe Burgess had some kind words to say on Sarginson, having played alongside him at Wigan Warriors.

“I’ve missed Sarg (Dan Sarginson). He’s a big character on and off the field, so I’m looking forward to working with him again.”

Supporters can get behind both of them, by purchasing 2021 season tickets early. Adult prices have been reduced across all areas, making it even more affordable to watch the team in action. Further details can be found HERE.

RED DEVILS SIGN HARVEY LIVETT

Harvey Livett has joined Salford Red Devils ahead of the 2021 season.

The 23-year-old back-rower arrives from Warrington Wolves and will link up with newly appointed Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall ahead of next season.

Livett said: “I’m looking forward to getting into preseason and then proving what I can do on the pitch.

“Speaking to a few of the boys who I know here, this is a great place to be and next year’s going to be a big year for us.

“I worked with Rich before, when I was coming through at Warrington, so I know what he’s about.

“He’s a good coach and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Familiar faces to Livett in Red Devils squad include Kevin Brown, who he played alongside in a Challenge Cup Final with Warrington, and Chris Atkin, who he linked up with while on loan at Hull KR and on England Knights duty.

Marshall said: “I have known Harvey since he was coming through the academy at Warrington.

“He’s an exciting, energetic player, who adds another dimension to our team.

“He has a lot of Super League experience for a player so young, but is still determined to continue his development.”

The signing of Livett on a two-year contract follows the recent announcement of Danny Orr as the team’s new assistant coach.

Supporters can get behind the team, by purchasing 2021 season tickets early. Adult prices have been reduced across all areas, making it even more affordable to watch them in action. Further details can be found HERE.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “Harvey’s an ambitious young player, who we are really pleased to have join us.

“He’s already impressed with his performances at the elite level and is now looking to continue his progression.

“Training alongside some of our senior players and being involved in the setup will give him the perfect opportunity to do that.”

If you are interested in sponsoring Livett, or another member of the 2021 squad, please email: hannah.kilby@salfordreddevils.net

DANNY ORR NAMED AS NEW ASSISTANT

Danny Orr has joined Salford Red Devils as assistant coach.

The former Castelford Tigers assistant and Great Britain international, will now help newly appointed head coach Richard Marshall prepare the team ahead of next season.

Orr said: “I think this is a really good move for me, working with Rich. He’s an enthusiastic young coach.

“I’ve been speaking to Rich over the past few days and I’ll be focusing on coaching the attack. We have the same philosophy on a lot of things, but we’re also willing to challenge each other.

He added: “My mum’s a huge Salford supporter too, so when I told her I was joining, she actually cried.”

Orr revealed in an exclusive RDTV interview, which supporters can watch HERE, that his parents met while his dad was playing for Salford in 1970.

Head coach Richard Marshall said: “I’m really pleased to have Danny working alongside me.

“I spent some time at Castleford when I was head coach at Halifax and he was part of a strong coaching team there.

“I could see how he worked and helped develop the players. He’s an experienced assistant in Super league and will have input in our back play and attack.

“He also has a sound knowledge on defensive systems and kicking too. Taking all that into account, it’s a really good fit for our coaching team and I’m excited to see him develop further here.”

Supporters can get behind the new coaching staff, by purchasing 2021 season tickets early. Adult prices have been reduced across all areas, making it even more affordable to watch the team in action. Further details can be found HERE.

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: “The insight Danny will offer from his years of experience in Super League as an assistant coach and a player will be invaluable to our group.

“He has close ties to the Club and has already bought into what we want to achieve.

“Richard knows him well and I am excited to see how the team performs next season, under their guidance.”

Salford Red Devils coach Paul Rowley will continue his involvement with the Club, directing his primary focus towards transition, player pathways and talent identification.

SUPPORTERS’ TRUST FUND TRIAL FOR CONNOR ASPEY

Salford Red Devils academy graduate Connor Aspey has joined up with the first team squad on a two-month trial.

The January and February trial period, which has been financed by the Supporters’ Trust, will give new Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall the opportunity to assess Aspey.

Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: “We’re very thankful to the Supporters’ Trust, for their continued support of our player pathways.

“After developing through those structures, Connor experienced the intensity of Super League for the first time last season and has now been given the opportunity to prove himself to our new head coach.

“The assistance from our Supporters’ Trust to give him that opportunity, shows their commitment to our youth players, and I would encourage all fans to join them as a result.”

You can join the Supporters’ Trust HERE for just £10 and all Junior members are free.

18-year-old Aspey made his Betfred Super League debut against Hull Kingston Rovers in October, after representing the reserves earlier in the season.

Aspey said: “Being part of the first team environment for so much of last year and making my Super League debut was a great experience.

“I’m really grateful for this opportunity to prove myself and want to thank the Supporters’ Trust for their support of me.

“Now I can’t wait to get stuck into training and show what I’m capable of.”
