A brace of tries from Ken Sio was not enough to see Salford claim the points on their visit to Southern France.

Niall Evalds claimed the Red Devils’ other try at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, as Elliot Kear made his debut in place of the injured Dan Sarginson.

The hosts enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half and as a result had more opportunities.

Micky McIlorum opened the scoring in the eighth minute and James Maloney extended the lead with a penalty.

Matt Whitley added a further two tries to the Dragons’ tally, giving them a substantial lead at the interval.

Ken Sio then came to the fore, with an impressive finish in the right corner. He was then opportunistic for his second, which took his side to within a single score.
