2019 Betfred Super League fixtures confirmed

Salford Red Devils will begin the 2019 Betfred Super League season against Huddersfield Giants at the John Smiths Stadium on Friday 1st February, 7:45pm kick-off. To see all fixtures click HERE.
Ian Watson’s men will host newly-promoted London Broncos in their first home game of the 2019 season on Sunday 10th February at the AJ Bell Stadium.
This is the first of three home fixtures in February with the Red Devils also welcoming Leeds Rhinos on Sunday 17th February and 2018 Betfred Super League Leaders’ Shield winners St Helens on Thursday 28th February; the Red Devils first televised game.
Salford will make the trip to France to face 2018 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup winners Catalans Dragons on Saturday 9th March with trips to Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity also coming in March either side of a home fixture against 2018 Betfred Super League winners Wigan Warriors.
The Red Devils’ Easter schedule sees them travel to Warrington Wolves on Friday 19th April before hosting Wigan Warriors for the second time in a month on Monday 22nd April. Salford will travel to London Broncos on Saturday 27th April.
Round 16 will play host to the Dacia Magic Weekend on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May with these fixtures to be confirmed in due course.
Salford will feature on Sky Sports again on Thursday 4th July as they welcome Huddersfield Giants to the AJ Bell Stadium.
The 2019 Betfred Super League sees the re-introduction of ‘loop’ fixtures meaning the Red Devils will play Wigan Warriors, London Broncos, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC, Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos on three occasions. Each team will play 29 fixtures – 14 at home and 14 away, plus the Magic round – meaning they play seven of the other 11 teams three times, and the other four twice. That fixture pattern has been determined by the teams’ finishing positions in 2018.
Ian Watson’s side will make the trips to the KCOM Stadium, Halliwell Jones Stadium and Ealing Trailfinders on two occasions while Wigan, Huddersfield and Leeds will visit the AJ Bell Stadium twice each.
The final game of the 2019 regular season will see Salford host Hull Kingston Rovers on Sunday 15th September. Please remember that all fixtures are subject to change.
Full fixtures can be seen below:

Kriss Brining leaves Salford

Salford Red Devils can confirm that Kriss Brining has left the Club following a lengthy lay-off with injury.
Brining joined the Red Devils in 2017 and made 24 appearances scoring five tries in his debut Betfred Super League season but was unable to feature in the 2018 season due to injury.
Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson said: “It was an extremely tough decision to let Kriss go.
“Kriss was one of my first signings and I’d have loved to have continued our journey together. I’m still of the opinion that Kriss still has the potential to go far in the game.
“I’m hopeful that we can work together again in the future and this is something I’ve discussed with Kriss. Hopefully he gets his career back up and running but due to current circumstances we were unable to offer Kriss a deal for next season.
“We already have three hookers signed up for the 2019 season and with Kriss still trying to overcome a long-term injury we came to the decision to let Kriss go which wasn’t easy for us.”
Salford Red Devils can confirm that Gavin Bennion has also left the Club after making two appearances in 2018.
We’d like to thank Kriss and Gavin for their efforts.

Kappa become Salford Red Devils new kit partner

Salford Red Devils are delighted to confirm that Kappa will be the Club’s official kit and leisurewear partner for the next three seasons.
Kappa – an Italian-based company – currently design and produce kits, training and leisurewear for a host of major European football teams and are also building an impressive Rugby League portfolio.
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: “We are delighted to enter into a deal with Kappa who are a leader in sports apparel.
“Kappa are a globally recognisable brand who are teamed with some of the biggest sporting clubs and countries in the world and it’s brilliant for us to join their team.
“They have already designed some fantastic Rugby League gear and I know they’ve got some brilliant things in the pipe line for our fans beginning with our 2019 home kit.”
Alan Keylock, Kappa’s Rugby Sales Manager, said: “Kappa are delighted to have teamed up with Salford Red Devils for the next three seasons.
“Salford are a team full of ambition and promise, joining forces with them at this stage is a significant win for Kappa and we look forward to working with the team.”
An online store will be available for Salford Red Devils supporters to purchase all their Kappa merchandise throughout the 2019 season and will be administered by Wild Thang.
Wild Thang Director, John Howarth, said: “As a business we are very excited to be working with the club for 2019 in partnership with Kappa, looking after the online retail merchandise and apparel. With the home kit launch in time for Christmas and some retro apparel in the pipeline it’s an exciting time for all involved.
The online store is set to be launched alongside the release of the Red Devils 2019 home kit which will be available to purchase in the lead-up to Christmas.

Squad | Jack Littlejohn to leave the Red Devils

Salford Red Devils can confirm that Jack Littlejohn will leave the Club following the 2018 season.
Littlejohn joined ahead of the 2017 season after spells with Wests Tigers and Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. The Australian made 19 appearances for the Red Devils and crossed for three tries.
Salford Red Devils would like to thank him for his efforts this year and wish him good luck.

Fixtures | Salford Sundays

Salford Red Devils can confirm that the Club have requested to play our 2019 Betfred Super League home games on a Sunday afternoon.
After consultation at the recent Fan Focus Groups, the Club will be making a conscious effort to improve the matchday experience and encourage more families, children and the community – as a whole – to attend the AJ Bell Stadium.
The Club therefore felt requesting that our games be played on a Sunday afternoon offers the community a better chance to come together and experience a Salford Red Devils gameday to remember. Hopefully, requesting to play on Sunday afternoons is the first step in our movement to re-engage with the local community and nurture the next generation of Red Devils supporters.
It is important to remember that all fixtures are subject to change with games being broadcast by Sky Sports.

Craig Kopczak to leave the Red Devils

As Salford Red Devils continue to reshape their squad for the 2019 season, we can confirm we have accepted an undisclosed offer for Craig Kopczak from a fellow Betfred Super League club.
Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: “We are in the process of forming a competitive squad for 2019 onwards which is capable of raising a few eyebrows throughout.
“Having already announced some of the biggest signings in the Club’s recent history, and with some more to come with the help of the forthcoming Squad Builder initiative, there are exciting times ahead for this prestigious Club.
“Maintaining players who are fully committed to this club is absolutely essential to the Coach and myself moving forward in the 2019 season. This club is determined to build that motivated team to compete at the top end of the Betfred Super League.”
The Club would like to thank Craig Kopczak for his services.

Squad | Hastings will remain a Devil

Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce the signing of halfback Jackson Hastings for the 2019 season.
Hastings – who arrived at the AJ Bell Stadium at the end of July – had a huge impact on the Red Devils end to the season crossing for five tries and guiding the side to a 1st place finish in The Qualifiers.
Hastings said: “In the end it was a pretty easy decision to be honest.
“When I laid in bed at night weighing up my options I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else over here.
“The amount of support the Club gave me through a tough time in my life, the love that I’ve got from the fans and the respect I’ve got from the playing group is something that if I’d walked away from it I know I wouldn’t have been happy with.
“I’m happy with my decision and hopefully we can kick on and have a good season next year.”
Head Coach Ian Watson said: “Signing Jackson for the 2019 season is a great piece of business by the Club and a great piece of business for Super League as a whole.
“His energy and enthusiasm around the Club and the boys is infectious and you can see in the games he’s played how it lifts people around him. We have always had effort and commitment from our team but Jackson has lifted the pressure and allowed others to just play and enjoy the game.
“Jackson wants to lead a team and be the dominant half and that fits perfectly within our team dynamics.
“I hope Jackson can continue to enjoy his football and show everyone over the next twelve months how good a signing he is.”
Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Jackson put pen to paper on a new deal with our Club.
“I have been talking with Jackson for some time now about his options and he has now made his decision to stay with us based on our aims of building this team and Club year on year and becoming a major force in the Super League.
“Jackson was instrumental to our form and finish at the back end of this season and he has been fantastic in and around the Club over the past three months. He has great character, a winning mentality – which I admire greatly – and he is infectious.
“Jackson has developed a great relationship with the players, staff, fans and the City’s community as a whole in such a sport space of time at the Club and that’s a credit to him as a person.
“This signing is a real statement of intent and in that we’ve staved off some tough competition from other clubs to sign Jackson for the 2019 season.
“We now look to this wonderful City we play in, our fans & community to back these signings and purchase your 2019 Season Tickets so we can thrive as a Club – #TogetherStronger – in Super League.
“Following the huge signings of Joey Lussick and Jackson Hastings we will also be introducing a new scheme – The Squad Builder – next week for fans to help the Club purchase some more high-calibre names in the future.”

Factfile | Salford Red Devils vs Toronto Wolfpack | Saturday 8th September

Ahead of Saturday’s massive Qualifiers clash between Salford Red Devils and Toronto Wolfpack we delve into some interesting facts behind the fixture.
Super League vs Championship
While the teams are now competing in The Qualifiers, Salford have been in Super League throughout the 2018 season while Toronto are fighting to earn promotion from the Championship.
Salford have lost to a Championship team this season, however. The Red Devils suffered defeat at the hands of Leigh Centurions at the Leigh Sports Village in Round Five of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup. However, last week’s victory over Halifax got them back to winning ways against Championship opposition.

The Wolfpack have faced Super League opposition on three previous occasions but are yet to earn a victory. They fell to the Red Devils in last year’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup before Warrington Wolves dumped them out of this season’s competition. Most recently, they suffered a narrow Qualifiers defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers at Lamport Stadium.
Home vs Away
Salford Red Devils’ home form has been fantastic since the start of June winning three of their last four games at the AJ Bell Stadium with a big victory over Leeds in between a double over Widnes Vikings.
This weekend, Ian Watson’s side will be looking to win three consecutive home games for the first time since May 2017 when the Red Devils beat Widnes Vikings, Hull Kingston Rovers and Catalans Dragons.
Toronto Wolfpack will be travelling to England for the second time in this Qualifiers campaign following a Round One victory over Halifax RLFC. While a lot is made of the travel aspect of Toronto’s schedule they have actually won each of their last eight away games plus two games at a venue away from Lamport Stadium.
In fact, the Wolfpack have actually dropped more points at home than away throughout the 2018 season. Toronto drew against Barrow and lost to London on the road but are now unbeaten away from home since the beginning of March.
Junior Sa’u has been in fine try-scoring form in recent weeks powering his way over for back-to-back doubles. Sa’u scored three tries in similar fashion against Widnes and Halifax before pulling off a fantastic catch to round off Salford’s scoring last week at the MBi Shay Stadium.
Both Rob Lui and Niall Evalds fantastic try-scoring runs stalled last weekend despite the Red Devils crossing for twelve scores at Halifax. Evalds has still crossed for four tries in his last four outings for Salford while Lui has scored three tries in last four outings. Jackson Hastings has also notched three tries in his opening four games in a Red Devils shirt.

The Wolfpack’s most frequent try-scorer in The Qualifiers may come as a surprise as Andrew Dixon has scored three tries in Toronto’s opening three games. They have had seven other try-scorers in The Qualifiers so far with Andy Ackers, Nick Rawsthorne, Blake Wallace, Gareth O’Brien, Josh McCrone and Mason Caton-Brown also going over.
Welcome the Wolfpack!
Tickets for our next home game against Toronto Wolfpack on Saturday 8th September are available to purchase at the Club Ticket Office, over the phone on 0161 786 1570 or SAVE MONEY by buying online, just CLICK HERE.
