Ian Watson | “Total Ninja offered the lads something different”

On Monday, the Salford Red Devils first team and backroom staff visited Total Ninja as their pre-season routine went adventurous with lads facing a number of obstacle courses.
Salford Red Devils Head Coach, Ian Watson, said: “We had a great morning down at Total Ninja at Trafford Park.
“It was about getting the boys out of our normal routine of focusing on our rugby non-stop and trying to focus on areas such as team spirit, working together and conquering a few different and unusual challenges.
“The first few weeks of pre-season have been really tough on the lads – they’ve worked hard. This is why we wanted to move them out of their normal environment and bring them into something different.
“Total Ninja really offered the lads a different stimulant in pre-season and that can be really beneficial to the lads to keep them on their toes. You could see that the lads really enjoyed it and got a bit of relaxation while still being tested physically which is always good.
“It was good to explore a new avenue with our sessions this week as it’s going to be a really tough few weeks now for the lads as we build to Christmas.”

Salford Red Devils to host local rivals Swinton Lions in pre-season

Salford Red Devils can confirm we will face local rivals Swinton Lions in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 12th January, 1pm kick-off.
The Red Devils hosted the Lions in pre-season last year and are delighted to welcome them back to the AJ Bell Stadium again in 2019.
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: “We’re excited to host Swinton for the second consecutive season.
“A big factor in us welcoming Swinton to the AJ Bell Stadium again was the success of last year’s fixture which saw us renew the rivalry. We’re hoping this fixture can become a bit of a community day and event for all the fans.
“There are a lot of ties between the Club’s and it really is a special fixture which is important to the City of Salford and surrounding areas.
“Of course, this will be the first opportunity for fans to see some of our new signings in action. I hope the fans of both Salford and Swinton turn out in force for our opening game of 2019.”

Club Statement | Dr Marwan Koukash writes off debt owed to him

Earlier this week, former Salford Red Devils owner – Dr Marwan Koukash – confirmed he has written off all the outstanding debt owed to him.
Salford Red Devils would like to begin by thanking Dr Marwan Koukash for this fantastic gesture. He has been a huge supporter of the Club, both as a fan and as a financial benefactor, and this is something that the Club is hugely appreciative of.
Since January 2018, the Club has functioned as a community club run by a Community Holding Company and has become more dependent on the generosity of the Salford Red Devils supporters and the wider community.
Season Tickets, regular match tickets, merchandise sales, sponsorship, hospitality and our brand-new initiative Squad Builder are the handful of major current revenue streams for the Club and it is pivotal that the fans and wider community continue to buy into these.
The immediate success of our newly-launched Squad Builder was a clear indictor that we have the foundations on which to build a stable, successful and self-funding Club. We are already well on the way to our target figure, but it is vital that fans sign-up and play a major role in assembling our 2019 playing squad.
In addition, we are still ahead in Season Ticket sales in comparison with the same point last year, which alongside a slight increase in pricing, has generated more revenue for the Club. We have also launched two fantastic kits and a brilliant leisurewear range alongside new partners Kappa and WildThang with early sales looking extremely promising.
We’d like to thank all the fans who have parted with their hard-earned cash via the aforementioned avenues – it really does help, and it really is appreciated.
But we know the work doesn’t simply stop here and we are continuing to work hard behind the scenes in all departments to ensure that this historic Club can prosper in the Betfred Super League.
The Club will be aiming to market more successfully in the coming seasons including reaching out to fans who have lapsed away from the Club in recent years. However, we are fully aware of the need to create new Red Devils which is why you will see the Club become more visible and proactive in the community of Salford.
Salford Red Devils are also aware of the need to take our matchday experience in a new direction which is also something the Club are looking into ahead of the 2019 Betfred Super League season. Our recent Fan Focus Groups and relationship with the Salford RLFC Supporters’ Trust are helping us with all of the above.
There really hasn’t been a better time in which to be a Salford supporter, re-engage with the Club or begin your affinity with the Red Devils. The fans are now a huge influencing factor in how successful this great Club can be, and we want you on this journey alongside us.
Salford Red Devils are currently in our 145th year of existence. Many chapters have already been written and we are extremely optimistic that 2019 will be the beginning of a new chapter.
A chapter which sees the Club embedded in the community. A chapter which sees the fans become an essential part of the Club. A chapter in which we are #TogetherStronger.

Red Devils attend Salford Roosters’ U12 and U13 awards evening

Salford Red Devils forwards Jansin Turgut and Adam Lawton attended Salford Roosters’ U12 and U13 presentation evening this past weekend.
The two Red Devils were quizzed on all things Rugby League and Salford before presenting trophies to the next generation of players.
Patrick and Chris, the Coaching Staff from Salford Roosters, said: “It was fantastic that Jansin and Adam could join us at our under 12 and under 13 presentation evening.
“The players impressed everyone during the question and answer session with the coaches, kids and parents. We heard about Jansin’s time with the England Schoolboys and Turkey’s national Rugby League team as well as how Adam has re-found his love for the sport at Salford and that he comes from Salford stock!
“They impressed us all with their advice to the boys – play Rugby League for enjoyment, work as hard as you can, and you can achieve what you want.
“We’ve got the next generation of players and fans in our teams and it’s great to have strong links with Red Devils. Having Salford players down inspires our players to try and emulate them.
“Now Salford is a community club it’s more important than ever that we all work together and the Roosters and proud to be working with the Red Devils.”
And, Jansin and Adam loved it too…

Salford Red Devils and Kappa launch 2019 away kit

Salford Red Devils are delighted to reveal our 2019 away kit which is designed by our official kit and leisurewear partner – Kappa.
This year’s away kit sees Salford go back to black with the shirt also featuring a broken diagonal red stripe across the front. There is also a white trim on the collar and sleeves, in identical fashion to the home shirt.
If you pre-order before midnight on Sunday 2nd December you will be guaranteed to have the away shirt with you in time for our trip to Huddersfield on Friday 1st February which will be the first time the Club don the new black kit. To pre-order via our online store, simply click HERE.
Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, said: “We’re delighted with the final outcome of our 2019 away kit.
“Kappa have done an excellent job once again in making the kit look extremely smart and we’re hoping the fans like the design and will now pre-order their replica shirt via our online store which is powered by WildThang.
“Again, I’d like to thank our loyal shirt sponsors – Mitsubishi Motors, Kingsland Drinks, The Lowry, The Salmon King, Advanced Steel, Prowood, Austin Wilkinson, Applied Nutrition and the University of Salford – for their continued support.
“It’s going to be great to see the lads take to the field in our opening game of the 2019 Betfred Super League season against Huddersfield Giants wearing this kit.”
