Ian Watson | “We totally fell away from it”

Head Coach Ian Watson was disappointed to see his side move away from the processes – which saw them start strongly against Hull Kingston Rovers – after the hosts crossed the Red Devils line.
Watson said: “We started as well as we have done for a while.
“We were in control dominating field position and as soon as a little bit of pressure came on us we totally fell away from it.
“Hull KR just turned the tide. We were having a real arm-wrestle for that first twenty minutes and we got our nose in front and just needed to stick with the processes which we were doing really well early on.
“But then a few errors and them going the length of the field from our kick turned the tide and that’s when you need a little bit of resilience and we didn’t have it.
“Hull KR were outstanding. Their packed rolled our pack and they beat us in all areas to be honest.”

Kingsland Drinks Try of the Month | April 2018 – Jake Bibby

Salford Red Devils winger Jake Bibby was the winner of April’s Kingsland Drinks ‘Try of the Month’ competition after he finished a superb off-the-cuff team try at Huddersfield.
The try began with Weller Hauraki and Rob Lui linking up to find Lama Tasi however, Tasi wasn’t taking the tackle offloading back to Lui.
The halfback found Ben Nakubuwai, who similarly wasn’t happy going to ground and gave the ball to Mark Flanagan who pulled off a lovely one-handed catch.
Hauraki eventually found himself back in possession and threw a sublime inside dummy to Kris Welham before a ‘out of the back door’ offload to Bibby out wide who finished in style.
But, why just read about the try when you can watch it here:

Ian Watson | “We got the rewards at the backend”

Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson was pleased with his sides patience in their victory over Huddersfield Giants and says his side weren’t thinking about their away form too much.
Watson said: “We’ve not even been worried about that. We’re confident wherever we go whether that will be home or away.”
He added: “We’ve played some good teams away from home so far in the early part of the season and in those games, we’ve been really competitive so that wasn’t a problem for us but I suppose it is good to get that monkey off your back but we’re not overly bothered about that.
I thought we started well and then went a little scrappy in between we just needed to finish our sets a little better.
“But, in the second half we got that composure when they were having a real purple patch attacking our line and we defended really well, fronted up and we know it was going to turn at some point and we got the rewards at the backend.”

Junior Sa’u | “We come back Monday and keep working hard”

Salford Red Devils centre Junior Sa’u feels there a lot of positives to take from Friday’s game and already can’t wait to get back into training on Monday.
Sa’u, sponsored by Advanced Steel, said: “We come back Monday and keep working hard.
“I thought we were a lot better than last week and I thought we turned up in our defence.
“Unfortunately, we fell short but we can take a lot of positives out of that game so yeah I’m really happy with the boys effort.”
Sa’u muscled up in defence along with the forward pack who were pivotal to Salford almost coming away with a point at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.
Sa’u said: “It’s always tough to come here [Wakefield] and try and get the win but you know like I said even though we lost there’s a lot of positives we can take from this game and keep building.
“They’ve got one of the big forward packs in the competition and I thought our forwards did a great job to match them as well.”
Junior Sa’u’s full post-match interview will be available on Salford Red Devils TV later today.
